Frequently Asked Questions

What happens next?
If you would like to find out more, and how I could help you, please telephone me on 07972 505582. This is a confidential line, and you may well reach my answerphone. Please leave a message with your name and contact number, and I will get back to you as soon as I can; I will try to make that the same day. Or you can email me. pjphh@fsmail.net
The first step is to arrange a first meeting.

What happens on the first meeting?
This first meeting is an opportunity for me to explain more fully how I work, and for you to ask any questions. I will show you a contract, and offer a way for us to work together. Then it is for you to decide whether you want to commit yourself to working with me.
This first meeting is without obligation, because I believe that the relationship between us is important. You need to feel comfortable with the way I work.

How much does it cost?
I charge £30 for a session, which will last one hour. The first session is at a reduced rate of £20. However, in certain circumstances, I can make concessions. Please feel free to talk to me.

How often would I need to come and for how long?
Usually, the client comes once a week. The number of session depends onthe situation you bring to counselling. I would start by offering you six sessions, with a review on the fifth session, to discuss whether you want to extend the number of sessions.

What happens in counselling?
Counselling is sometimes described as a talking therapy. I am there to listen to you and to offer you a safe place for you to work out what you want. I like to work creatively and may offer you ways to express your feelings. I believe in the innate values of each individual and will offer you respect and treat you with courtesy and dignity.
